Types of Private Airplanes

If you are planning to purchase or charter a private jet, it is important that you know which kind of plane is most suitable for you. Private airplanes are basically divided into five categories, based on size, range, and amenities, and these categories are:

Light Jets

Light jets are the smallest kind of private jets, and their seating capacities usually range from five to eight passengers. Typically, they can travel non-stop for up to two hours and reach a maximum speed of 500 mph.

Mid-Size Jets

Mid-size jets have larger cabin and luggage space, and they can carry six to eight passengers. They can be used for flying cost-to-coast in the US, with a maximum flight time of seven hours.

Super Mid-Size Jets

Generally, super mid-size jets can seat up to nine passengers, but some larger models can hold 12. These airplanes usually come with amenities that are found in larger private planes, such as spacious cabins and galleys, and entertainment systems.

Heavy or Large Cabin Jets

Heavy or large cabin jets are the biggest type of private planes, with enough space to accommodate 10 passengers comfortably. They can fly nonstop for 4,000 miles or nine hours, and they feature first class seating with pull-out tables.

Turbo Prop Airplanes

Turbo prop planes are small private jets that can be fitted with amphibious floats or snow skis for landing in different environments. They can comfortably seat five to eight passengers and fly nonstop for four hours.

Whether you own a small or large airplane, it is recommended that you use a powered aircraft tug to move it while it is on the ground. Lindbergh has a great selection of advanced aircraft tugs for moving all types of private jets. Check them out.
