Aviation Exploring Announces 2018 Scholarship Recipients
$65,000 in scholarships awarded to deserving Explorers
Megan Ryan of Aviation Exploring Post 8 in Topeka, Kansas, has been awarded a $20,000 academic scholarship to be used toward earning a collegiate degree in aviation. Megan will be attending Liberty University this fall and plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics.
Flight training scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each were awarded to Yaneli B. Escobar of Post 9090 in Irving, Texas, Reagan Alley of Post 78 in Batavia, Ohio, and Millard Brown of Post 2013 in Redlands, California.
Aircraft maintenance scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each were awarded to Julian Alexander Vazquez of Post 115 in Hawthorne, California, and Joshua Benson of Post 7500 in Murrieta, California.
Avionics technology will be studied by Angelo Cervantes of Post 120 in Carlsbad, California, and Evan Pearce of Post 314 in Aspen, Colorado, who each received a $5,000 scholarship toward their education.
John Zha of Post 2396 in Phoenix, Arizona, and Jake Ryall of Post 2352 in Mesa, Arizona, were each awarded a $5,000 scholarship to study aviation management.
A total of $65,000 was awarded in Aviation Exploring scholarships for 2018. All scholarships were funded by The Sporty’s Foundation.
“Aviation Exploring is indebted to The Sporty’s Foundation for its generosity in funding these scholarships,” said Sean Hogan, scholarship chairman for Aviation Exploring. “These life- changing scholarships help ensure we’ll have a new generation of well-trained people to take their place in the aviation community.”
Aviation Exploring is an affiliate program of the Boy Scouts and is open for participation to young women and men ages 14 to 20. Aviation Exploring encourages young people to enter various career fields in aviation as pilots, maintenance personnel, avionics techs, airport management, and more.
